Alagael Launch app ↗

_ Terms of Use

The short version: Alagael is free, open-source software that runs on your device. You stay in control of your keys and your assets, and you carry the responsibility that comes with that.

EFFECTIVE 7 OCT 2026 · DRAFT FOR LEGAL REVIEW BEFORE v1.0

1 · Agreement

By using the Alagael website, app or source code ("Alagael"), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Alagael.

2 · What Alagael is

Alagael is software. It runs in your browser and helps you split secrets, seal letters and configure smart contracts that you deploy and own. Alagael is non-custodial: its contributors never receive, hold or can access your seeds, keys, letters or assets, and cannot recover them for you. There is no account and no protocol fee. The Alagael token is separate from the app: no feature needs it, holding it gives no rights over anyone's vault, and it is not an investment offer. Only trust the token address published on this site.

3 · Not advice, not a will

Nothing in Alagael is legal, tax, financial or investment advice. Alagael is not a will and does not create one. Inheritance law differs by country, and an on-chain transfer may not be recognised by a court or tax authority. Use Alagael together with a valid will and professional advice.

4 · Your responsibilities

  • Keeping your seed, shares, passphrases, sealed letters and wallet secure.
  • Choosing trustworthy Keepers and heirs, and giving them what they need to act.
  • Checking every address, amount and transaction before you sign it.
  • Sending Ticks in time if you do not want your heir to be able to take over.
  • Paying network fees, and complying with the laws that apply to you.

5 · Smart contracts

Transactions on Ethereum are public and irreversible. The DeadManSwitch contract has not been audited and may contain bugs that cause loss of control over a Safe or its assets. Once its period has passed without activity, the heir you configured can take full control of the Safe; Alagael's contributors cannot stop or reverse this. You deploy and enable these contracts at your own risk.

6 · Third parties

Alagael relies on services and software it does not control, including your wallet, its RPC provider, Ethereum, Safe and the drand network. Their availability, terms and privacy practices are their own. If drand stopped operating, time-locked letters could not be opened.

7 · No warranty

Alagael is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the extent permitted by law and as stated in the GNU General Public License v3.

8 · Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Alagael's contributors are not liable for any loss of assets, data, profits or access, or for any indirect or consequential damage, arising from your use of Alagael, including errors in software, contracts, third-party services or your own actions.

9 · License

Alagael's own code is licensed under GPL-3.0-or-later. Included libraries and contracts keep their licenses (MIT, Apache-2.0, LGPL-3.0). The name and story elements come from Snowmoon by Vitalik Buterin (GPL v3); Alagael is an independent fan project, not affiliated with or endorsed by its author.

10 · Prohibited use

Do not use Alagael to break the law, to hide proceeds of crime, to evade sanctions, or to defraud heirs, creditors or anyone else. Do not present a modified version as the official Alagael.

11 · Changes and contact

We may update these Terms; the date at the top shows the latest version. Continued use means you accept the update. Governing law: [JURISDICTION].
